The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the average truck driver salary as $43,680 per year. But it's important to keep in mind that these are only averages for a CDL truck driver salary, which means that the data includes those at all stages of their careers and in all types of trucking. 

So, when researching "how much does a truck driver make", keep that in mind. HOW MUCH DOES A TRUCK DRIVER MAKE AT JETLYNK?

The short answer is: It varies based on the type of parcel or freight you haul, your length of haul, and your experience level. And, because we use a sliding pay scale based on experience and dispatched miles, the more experience you have, and the more dispatched miles you run, the higher your pay will be.

That said, we understand that you probably want to know what those high-paying trucking jobs are at Swift. Just understand that there are many variables that can impact how much you make. Below are some approximate average ranges for different segments of our business. Remember, some individuals will make less than this, especially newer drivers, and some individuals will make more than this, some a lot more than these ranges. Here are some annual average salaries¹:

Local Pickup and Delivery

• Annual Average Salary: $40,400-$60,300 ($842-$1,257 weekly)

Dry Van OTR

• Annual Average Salary: $59,449-$68,345 ($1,159-$1,330 weekly)

Refrigerated OTR

• Annual Average Salary: $60,835-$68,632 ($1,188-$1,320 weekly)

Dry Van Dedicated

• Annual Average Salary: $61,274-$68,436 ($1,188-$1,321 weekly)

Refrigerated Dedicated 

• Annual Average Salary: $61,372-$68,039 ($1,199-$1,321 weekly)

Flatbed OTR

• Annual Average Salary: $60,537-$68,526 ($1,186-$1,327 weekly)

Flatbed Dedicated

• Annual Average Salary: $63,233-$71,528 ($1,230-$1,378 weekly)

Intermodal

• Annual Average Salary: $59,723-$66,499 ($1,158-$1,288 weekly)

Teams
